WATCH WITH YOU - Online Screening “Hong Kong’s New Activists” by Floris-Jan van Luyn

“Hongkongs nieuwe helden’, directed by Floris-Jan van Luyn, features in depth interviews with 4 Hongkongers during the Anti-Extradition Law protester in 2019, Hong Kong. The Dutch version of this documentary was aired once on a Dutch independent media VRPO, in the program “Backlight”, only once in November 2019.

We’ll WATCH the English subtitled international version of this documentary “Hong Kong’s New Activists” WITH YOU together online.

There will be a post-screening Q&A, joined by Floris-Jan van Luyn and Wong Yik Mo (the former vice convenor of The Civil Human Rights Front, CHRF). Florus-Jan will share his view as a film-maker in Hong Kong during the 2019 protest, and Wong Yik Mo will share his protest experiences and insights on Hong Kong’s last 2-year changes.

This online screening and Q&A are open to all public when participants can stay anonymous. There will be no registration and login required.

Note that this program was originally scheduled on November 6th. Owing to technical problem, it is now postponed to the December 18th.

Floris-Jan van Luyn is an award winning filmmaker, writer and former journalist. He studied in Taiwan and China before becoming the China correspondent for the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad in the 90s. He has over 30 years of experience in Asia related issues.

Wong Yik Mo, a Hong Kong Activist. He was the vice-convenor of the Civil Human Rights Front, the coalition that organised some of the biggest protests in Hong Kong's history. He took part in the 2019 protests, and has now relocated to Taiwan.
